Description
Timing for right hand turn signal from HRD onto Huron Road has been broken since about the start of 2024.
I've observed the cycles and I have not seen a right turn green arrow phase being triggered by right turn traffic alone. If vehicles appear going straight from HRD, or turning left onto Whittaker Rd; or left from Huron Rd onto HRD; then the right turn green arrow does cycle. Sometimes very briefly.
This leads to long backups during morning rush hour. Occasionally as far back as the Civic Center and even the Armory along HRD. Consequently, people make risky turn-right-on-red maneuvers, and use the Civic Center drive to bypass the backup.
If this is by design, I'd like to understand who benefits. If there's something wrong with the sensor for the right turn lane on HRD, then let's get that addressed.
Thank you!
